Transport Design Engineer – Verizon Network

Job Description:

  We are looking for a skilled Transport Engineer to support Verizon’s transport design and path creation activities. The role focuses on building and updating transport data in CND/Granite, generating IP information in INAM, issuing Transport CIQs, and ensuring accurate connectivity for 4G/5G deployments. You will work closely with RF, Equipment, and Configuration teams to ensure transport designs meet Verizon standards, are accurately documented, and are ready for provisioning and migration activities.

Key Responsibilities (Planning Focused):

  • Create and update transport design paths based on RF site design inputs.
  • Build and modify CND/Granite/XNG records and clean up unused paths.
  • Generate and update IP details for 4G/5G equipment in INAM.
  • Complete and issue Transport CIQs for new builds, hub migrations and growth.
  • Work with Verizon tools including Fuze, IOP, Canvas, INAM.
  • Support transport design for:
    • Macro Samsung/Nokia RAN with Nokia CSR
    • CRAN hubs and centralised RAN (vDU/BBU/eNB)
    • Fronthaul/shared-node CPRI and dark fiber mappings
    • Small Cell (RU-BBU integrated) backhaul
  • Plan and update VLANs, IP backhaul, transport paths and segments for radio builds and C-Band migrations.
  • Understand interconnect circuits such as TLS, EMUX, Dark Fiber, EOS.
  • Work with Nokia routers (7705/7250/7750) for transport and IP planning.
  • Review RFDS and configuration inputs to determine transport requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and maintain accurate design documentation and trackers.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (mandatory).
  • 5+ years of experience in transport engineering, backhaul or IP/optical planning.
  • Strong knowledge of CND/XNG/Granite and related transport databases.
  • Experience with Verizon tools (Fuze, IOP, Canvas, INAM).
  • Understanding of RAN, CRAN, fronthaul/backhaul, VLAN/IP transport and circuit topologies.
  • Familiarity with Nokia router platforms.
  • Strong documentation skills and experience producing transport CIQs.
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate transport design packages.
